How to Make Money From the Website That You Created

I have a belief that, your website is like your business. If you work hard on it eventually it will pay off and your website will one day work hard for you. Kind off like how you grow your business and eventually it will run on its own, you just sit back and enjoy the profits. Although both websites and businesses alike, you will have to put in enough hard work. After that you can start thinking about how to make money from your website.

Here are a few ways :

1. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is when you sign up for an affiliate program, and help promote a product or service. When you manage to sell that product or service you will be payed a pre-determined commission. A few affiliate programs that are popular are Amazon Associates which is Amazon’s affiliate program or ClickBank. For a beginner I recommend Amazon because it is easier to make a sale, although the commission is low. As you gain more experience you can find programs which give a commission of up to 50%.

2. Email marketing

Email marketing is a lot like getting subscribers. When someone comes along to your website, maybe they buy something or maybe they don’t. Either way you try to give them an incentive to give you their email, like giving out a free ebook in exchange for their email. You want their email because you know that since they visited your site, chances are that they have some interest in what you’re offering, or interested in your niche. So when you get their email you can send them future promotions, because you know they are a relevant customer.

The good thing is, your email list will keep growing. Meaning as more and more people subscribe to you, the more effective your email promotions will be. There are services out there that help you manage your email list and help you send emails out automatically like Aweber and MailChimp.

3. Create your own product

This maybe a little bit advanced, but definitely a legit way to make some money with your website. If you are an expert in your niche, you might want to look into writing an ebook or creating some video training. You can then promote these products on your website.

4. Advertisements

This is a pretty easy way to monetize your website. There are a few different types of advertisements like:

Pay Per Click (PPC) – you get paid for each click on the advertisement

Pay Per Acquisition (PPA) – you get paid each time someone clicks on the advertisement and does something, like sign up or make a purchase

Pay Per Impression (PPM) – you get paid each time the advertisement is viewed, although only a small amount

There are some drawbacks to advertisements as well though, some will argue that you would want your visitor to stay in your website longer, to discover more content and adding an advertisement means you’re directing them to another website.

The most popular advertisement you can try would be Google Adsense.

5. Sell your website

Once your website becomes established and can generate decent amounts of traffic, there might be people who will be looking to buy it from you. The way it works is that you will sell your website for a number of months worth of revenue. If the number of months agreed is 12 months, then you get paid whatever they make in those 12 months for your website. I personally do not recommend this method because you will be losing your business and a source of income. It is true you that you will get a huge amount of money, though so it really is up to you.


It is up to you how you want to go about making money from your website, and do know that there are other ways to explore as well. Do remember that before thinking about the money you would have to work on your website first.
