By | September 17, 2018

I’m sure you’re wondering, is Wealthy Affiliate a scam?

You see all these reviews online, they seem to say pretty much the same thing. It’s a review by Wealthy Affiliate members praising Wealthy Affiliate into oblivion.

Well, not me.

While I have been a Wealthy Affiliate member for 2 years, I still do see some major flaws in this

Wealthy Affiliate Review

So, if you want to know the truth about Wealthy Affiliate that most reviews won’t tell you, you’ve come to the right place !

I’m going to share with you 5 positive comments that you’ll most likely find in any other Wealthy Affiliate review and tell you the truth behind them to help you decide if Wealthy Affiliate is a scam or not.

What others are saying #1 – Wealthy Affiliate has a great online community

This is very true and I fully agree.

One of the major perks for being a Wealthy Affiliate member is that you get to learn from other successful members.

Even if you don’t learn something from that, the fact that other members are succeeding day by day is a great motivator as well compared to if you were to try making money alone.

You see, one major hurdle to overcome is the question of ” Does this actually work? “. With Wealthy Affiliate, you can see it work with your own eyes in their successful blog posts section.

The truth – They have a cult like community

Okay I might have exaggerated a little.

So my problem with Wealthy Affiliate’s community is that while it is true that you’ll get a lot of help, there are also plenty of members who don’t know their stuff.

And this wouldn’t normally be a problem until one member who’s popular comes up and give out wrong information. Most new comers in Wealthy Affiliate seem to just blindly follow these more popular members, liking and praising whatever they say even if sometimes the popular members can be wrong ( I mean nobody’s perfect right ? )

To me it just seems like most new comers in Wealthy Affiliate don’t really think for themselves and just keep giving out comments like “Thanks for sharing this great info !” or “Wow I’ve learned something today !”, etc …

This creates a problem that naturally these posts by popular members would get a lot of views ( they are popular for a reason ), and is therefore being shown to more members, and the cycle continues.

My opinion – You need to be smart

Again, don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of very experienced senior members in Wealthy Affiliate. Also, these posts giving out wrong information are only appearing every once in a while.

I’ve been in the online world for some time now, which is why I can tell with my own eyes what’s true and what’s not.

You too, should be alert and just remember to think for yourself. Don’t think anyone’s word for it because as I’ve said, nobody is perfect.

What others are saying #2 – Wealthy Affiliate has great training

If there is one thing that I’d standby for with Wealthy Affiliate, that would be its training.

There are literally modules upon modules, videos upon videos of training in total in Wealthy Affiliate. Not to mention that they host weekly live webinars and you can watch the replay for these. Just imagine how many they have by now !

The truth – Community Training are sometimes underwhelming

My only issue with the training at Wealthy Affiliate are some of the community made training.

The idea at Wealthy Affiliate is that all members can create their own training and share it to other members within the platform.

Again, I want to emphasize that there are plenty of great members sharing some quality training, but there are also a lot of training that I would call rubbish.

These are the kinds of training that is pretty much a rehash of Wealthy Affiliate’s core training, or something that’s super simple or poorly done. I’ve seen some training just last like 4 pages.

The problem also comes from Wealthy Affiliate actually paying their members for their training, so it is possible that some of these poorly made training are done by members who are just in it for the money.

My opinion – Always stick to the core training first

So as you can tell, Wealthy Affiliate has training made by the founders, which I’ll refer to here as the core training and the weekly live webinars.

These are 100% top notch. So just stick with these first.

Feel free to look at what other members have, they are some really good ones out there but just remember there are some really crappy ones too.

What others are saying #3 – Wealthy Affiliate provides you with plenty of tools

Most reviews out there would tell you that Wealthy Affiliate includes :

  • A keyword research tool
  • hosting of up to 50 websites
  • SSL certificates for free
  • On platform site content creator
  • Website support
  • And much more !

These are all true. Wealthy Affiliate quite literally has everything you’d need to start your blog and make money with it.

If you look at it objectively, you’re getting quite a lot of value for their premium membership.

The truth – Their hosting has failed me many times

Okay this is from my personal experience so what you hear from others may be different.

Within my 2 years of hosting my website on Wealthy Affiliate, my site has been down for more times than I can count.

Granted that everytime I encounter and issue, their support team would help me fix it after I send a ticket, but this is a major problem in my opinion.

Having your website down will negatively impact your earnings, just imagine if someone is about to buy something off your site and it crashes. Poof ! there goes your money.

My opinion – technically everything I said above was my own opinion lol

But in all seriousness, this may or may not happen to you. I have no idea why it happened to me but again your own experience may be different.

As a last resort, if all else fails you can always host your site elsewhere. From what I’ve heard most of the senior members who are getting a lot of traffic everyday host on more powerful platforms as well.

Wealthy Affiliate hosting seems to be like, the entry level kind of hosting.

What others are saying #4 – Wealthy Affiliate is free/cheap to start

To be honest I’m guilty of this point as well. Wealthy Affiliate has a free membership, which unlocks the first training modules.

The premium membership will only cost you $19 for your first month and $49 each consecutive month after that. I will admit that this price is way cheaper than most of what you’ll find out there.

The truth – It’s not actually that cheap ?

Hear me out here, by nature of the Wealthy Affiliate training and how they teach you to make money ( blogging ), you’ll probably expect to see some earnings after like 6 months on average.

So this means that if you’re serious about making money with Wealthy Affiliate, you have to be prepared to pay for 6 months of their membership, at least.

This comes close to $300.

My opinion – Don’t join if you’re not prepared

Most other reviews ( okay I admit, mine included ) will tell you to join since it’s free and what not.

But I’m just gonna say it here, if you can’t even last 6 months, both financially and mentally just don’t bother.

Going in and quiting half way is the last thing you want to do because then it becomes a literal waste of your money.

They way that Wealthy Affiliate teaches you to make money requires some serious dedication so if you can’t put in the effort this program may not be for you.

What others are saying #5 – Wealthy Affiliate teaches you how to create your own online business

So what they mean here is that, most programs out there will teach you how to do Internet marketing then have you promote the very same program again.

The difference at Wealthy Affiliate is that their training does not limit you to only promoting Wealthy Affiliate itself. You can create whatever blog you want and promote whatever you want, make money however you want with your blog.

This is great because if one day Wealthy Affiliate were to disappear, their members would still have the knowledge to continue making money online since the training has prepared them for it.

The truth – There are still a lot of members promoting Wealthy Affiliate

I’m sure you know this and might have seen it as well. There are plenty of members out there who choose to promote Wealthy Affiliate ( this was done by choice and was in no way forced by Wealthy Affiliate ).

The problem though is that these members seem to be getting a bad name. If you look around online enough, most Internet marketers online who aren’t Wealthy Affiliate members would complain about them calling everything a scam.

My opinion – Personally I might be guilty too

So here’s the thing, there are alot of programs out there who are outright scams let’s get that straight. There is no problem calling those scams.

However, there are a lot of programs like Multi-level Marketing programs which might seem like a scam but aren’t in reality.

I do sometimes agree with the those non-Wealthy Affiliate marketers. I’ve seen some members of Wealthy Affiliate complain about a program just because they don’t offer payment in paypal, I mean, this is some serious bone-picking here.

The conclusion

So now that you know the truth, what do you think ? Let me know in the comments bellow.

I want to make one thing clear though, I do think that Wealthy Affiliate is a very good program for anyone to start making money online.

But of course, the hype created by all their members is a bit too much in my opinion. Although you can’t really blame Wealthy Affiliate for what their members are doing, maybe?

Nevertheless, you can still try it out for yourself now that you have a better idea of what to expect from it.
